“Faulty Paradise” at AOA;87 Berlin

In the exhibition “Faulty Paradise”, XOOOOX explores the cultural and artistic significance of superficiality. How does it shape our thinking and perception? A key reference point is the biblical story of the Fall, which invites us to reflect on our understanding of meaning and self-awareness:

“And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”
– King James Bible (1912), Genesis 3:11

The moment Adam and Eve recognize their nakedness symbolizes the birth of self-awareness—a tension between identity and societal norms. XOOOOX delves into this dynamic, examining the interplay between what we reveal and what we conceal.

Drawing inspiration from “Zeitgeist” and pop culture, XOOOOX’s works challenge the illusion of perfection. Using ephemeral materials like corroded metal and cardboard, the artist emphasizes the creative potential of the surface, transforming superficiality into a space for reflection and fresh perspectives.

This exhibition invites viewers to see the surface not as the opposite of depth but as its beginning—a call to look beyond appearances.
